On shift
The five minutes before the ambulance
What the handover almost never records — and why it is usually the most useful part of the history.
Senior NHS Consultant · Accident & Emergency
I'm Neel Reddy. I still work A&E shifts, and most weeks I meet someone on the day their body finally said enough. Heart attacks. Burnout. Autoimmune disease. Almost none of it arrived overnight. This is where I write about hearing it earlier.

Still on the rota. That is the whole reason this exists — GMC [REG NO.]
The real problem
“What is your body telling you?”
Nobody teaches us how to read ourselves. We are fluent in every dashboard except the one we live inside — so the first signal gets missed, and the second, and the tenth, until the only reading left is the one taken in an ambulance.
Why it is not random
And the same descent, lived
Neither chain begins on the day of the emergency. Both are visible for months, often years, to anyone who knows where to look.
Life isn’t random. It’s a pattern — and patterns can be read.
Where health is actually decided
Not a ranking and not a rulebook. These are simply the places where the answer usually already is, long before a prescription is the right question.
Attention, stress, and the placebo you carry with you.
The variable almost no clinic thinks to measure.
Isolation shows up in bloods, not only in mood.
Light, ground, air — the oldest inputs we have.
Not a diet. What your biology is actually being given.
Where recovery is either done, or not done.
The single most evidenced lever on this list.
Extraordinary, and often the only right answer. A question of sequence, never of substitution.
Precision health
Read separately these are trivia. Read together, over ninety days, they are a picture of how you are actually doing — and the picture moves long before a diagnosis does.
Testing claims are the highest-risk copy on this site under ASA rules, and interpretation is clinical work. Who orders these, who reads them, and under what governance needs settling before this section goes live — [TO CONFIRM].

One number, read alone, tells you almost nothing. Read across ninety days it tells you nearly everything.

Working backwards from four admissions, and the eighteen months each of them was visible for.

About
I am a Senior NHS Consultant in Accident & Emergency, still on the rota. That is the whole reason this exists: I see where the road ends, most weeks, and almost every time there was a longer, quieter road in.
